The Oakland Independent is honored to help share important news in our neighbors' lives, so we don't charge for any of the following announcements:

• Birth announcements.

• Milestone anniversaries (starting with 25 years).

• Milestone birthdays (starting with 75 years).

• Engagements.

• Weddings.

• Obituaries for people with a local connection.

• Family reunions and class reunions (announcements before, and write-ups after).

• News Travels (vacation photos that include a copy of the Oakland Independent).

• Neighbors in the News (tidbits about vacations, parties, visitors, etc.).

Photos are also welcome for each of these items -- also at no charge.

 

All announcements are subject to editing to ensure consistency. Any notices outside of our guidelines may be run as paid advertising; we'll let you know if that is needed.

 

The deadline for each week's newspaper is 5 p.m. Sunday.
